Alita Battle Angel 2
Alita: Battle Angel 2 has very much fan support behind it. This fan support can be put into comparison for the release of the Zack Snyder cut of Justice League.
Since the theatrical release of Alita: Battle Angel in February 2019, there has been a petition for it. Even fans came forward to give funds for a plane to fly over the Oscars red carpet in 2020. However, the additional money is being sent to Open Bionics. It is a company that creates artificial limbs for those who need them but can’t afford it.
Despite having a lot of mixed reviews, Alita: Battle Angel has a decent collection of $404.9 million worldwide. This led to the growth of its dedicated fanbase, which would traditionally be enough for a sequel to be made.
Alita Battle Angel 2: Will There Be A Sequel?
The major problem for Alita fans is that since the first movie was released, Disney finished its acquisition of Fox. It’ll be Disney that decides whether the film gets a sequel or not. The sequel comes into picture only if Disney can find some space on its packed release slate for it.
Rosa Salazar’s Word
At the moment, it does not seem likely for the release of any sequel. The lead star Rosa Salazar confirms in July 2019 that she hasn’t heard anything about a sequel. But there’s a confirmation that Cameron and Rodriguez have plans for the sequel. The first movie will set it up.
How is the sequel set up?
The film has intentions to be a complete story, if not one that answers all our questions. Alita loses her lover, Hugo. But she has come to understand herself and her place in the world better. She is rising to become a Motorball champion. Alita has a plan of returning to the mysterious city, Zalem, and its leader Nova.
Keeping the deleted scenes aside, it’s clear that Rodriguez and Cameron intend the movie to be a complete one in itself.
But mysteries are continuing to surround Alita’s centuries-long life. Cameron points out that those don’t have a complete explanation, even in Yukito Kishiro’s original manga.
