What is iTunes U?
If you thought that the name would ultimately relate to music, you’re wrong! iTunes U provides a teacher everything he needs to teach in a classroom on an iPad. It allows you to build lessons, collect materials, grade assignments, start class discussions, talk to students, answer questions, and provide feedback.
With iTunes U, Apple created a digital platform that allows teachers, professors, and educational institutes to share their courses with the world. Apple To Discontinue iTunes U After 2021!
This came as rather shocking when Apple disclosed that it would be discontinuing iTunes U after 2021. Given the current situation, the entire population is going digital. Despite increasing demand, Apple has stated that it won’t continue iTunes U post-2021.
In addition to that, it has also said that the current academic content will stay on the app through the educational year 2020-2021. The reason behind stopping the app is because Apple is building standalone apps such as Classwork And Schoolwork. These apps will help teachers distribute material, collect material, and grade students.
By the middle of 2019, Apple started shifting content more towards other platforms. This made it clear that an eventual shutdown is on the cards for iTunes U. Apple says that iTunes U tools have been replaced with next-generation apps for teachers and students, which include Classroom and Schoolwork, plus the Apple School Manager tool.
