Avengers Endgame was a movie cherished by every fan of Marvel. However, it was very painful for them to see their favourite character Tony Stark a.k.a Iron Man die in the climax of the movie. Last words of Iron Man were “I am Iron Man” and this line became iconic just as expected. Iron Man says these lines after he manages to take the infinity stones from Thanos and snaps his finger to defeat him. However, the power of the infinity stones was too much for him and he leaves everyone after rescuing the world. The screenwriter of the movie McFeely revealed during the San Diego Comic-Con that they had originally planned many lines for Iron Man during his final moments. However, the lines were removed after Robert Downey Jr suggested to them that he would want to remain silent in the final moments. McFeely narrated the incident saying, “These actors have spent a lot of time with these characters, so Chris and I are very happy, and did, to write all sorts of lovely dying words for Tony Stark. Robert is not happy to say them, right?” He further added that Robert knew “a guy who has talked and talked and talked for many, many movies, when he doesn’t talk, you are crushed.”

Director Joe Russo said Robert didn’t want to say “I am Iron Man.” Joe said, “It’s an interesting story. I had dinner with [Robert Downey Jr.] like two weeks before we were supposed to shoot it. And he was like, ‘I don’t know. I don’t really want to go back and get into that emotional state. It’ll take… it’s hard.’ And crazily enough, Joel Silver, the producer, was at the dinner. Joe was relieved when Robert agreed to say the lines after the producer of the show convinced him. As per Joel Silver, it was the greatest line of the movie and pushed Robert to say the lines. Fans would be relieved that he said those lines.
