It has been a series of disturbing and angry nights across cities in the US. Cars overturned, arson, destruction of property, stores looted, and clashed with the police have erupted in major cities of the US. All this in the wake of the tragic death of George Floyd that took place on Monday (25/05/2020). George Floyd, an African-American man, died in Powderhorn, a neighborhood south of downtown Minneapolis, Minnesota.
The tragic death of Floyd has sparked massive unrest amongst the people of the Black community all over the world. People worldwide have come out in support of Floyd. Hollywood celebrities, too, have expressed their disappointment via social media. People like Justin Bieber, Cardi-B, Snoop Dog, and Kim Kardashian took to Instagram to show their support for George Floyd.
Although many celebrities are physically participating in the protests, these include the likes of Machine Gun Kelly, Nick Cannon, Kendrick Sampson, and Halsey. US Democratic Senator Elizabeth Warren also joined the protest on Tuesday (2/5/2020) with her dog Bailey and husband, Bruce.
Ben Affleck And Girlfriend Ana De Armas Join Black Lives Matter Protests In Venice
The latest Hollywood celebrities to take part in the protest are Ben Affleck and his girlfriend, Ana De Armas. This is what the Argo star tweeted:
“Now is the time for me to listen, learn, and, most of all, take action.”
The Hollywood couple, who just made their relationship official, showed their support for a historic Black Church and the Black Lives movement. Ben and Ana photographed in Venice, California, on Tuesday amid several other protestors denouncing the demolition of the First Baptist Church in Venice. The 47-year-old actor was snapped, holding up two signboards. One of them read “Save First Baptist Church Of Venice,” whereas the second read “Black Lives Matter.” A friend of the couple told People magazine that Ben wants to be an idol for his children and wants to set an example.
