Brad Pitt and Angelina Jolie are known as a golden couple in Hollywood. Their relationship has been the talk of the tabloids ever since they met on the set of Mr and Mrs Smith in 2004.
The couple became a thing of the past when all of a sudden Angelina filed for divorce in 2016. The divorce shook the fans since the couple had been dating for the past 12 years.
Why is Angelina Jolie trying to delay the custody?
Angelina Jolie, in the statement, said, the private judge overseeing their divorce must disqualify. She says the judge has insufficient disclosures of his business relationships with one of Pitt’s attorneys.
The judge says it doesn’t make any sense at all and probably Jolie wants the custody to be delayed.
In the new legal documents obtained by USA TODAY, Pitt’s lawyers pushed back against Jolie’s request to remove Judge John W. Ouderkirk, the judge who has worked with the former couple several times before for years.
Which includes presiding over their 2014 wedding and two months before the custody trial scheduled to begin.
Against the sudden backdrop, Jolie’s abrupt cry of judicial bias reeks of bad faith and desperation. Not to mention careless disregard for the procedural rules intended to root out legitimately conflicted judicial officers.
In an interview, Angelina’s lawyer said, “It is unfortunate that Mr Pitt’s team has sought to intervene ahead of Judge Ouderkirk’s response”. According to the judge, one can only conclude that this is an attempt to obstruct or influence Judge Ouderkirk’s answer.
The judge further adds Any kind of delay in these proceedings isn’t a great idea. It is due to their zealous attempt to create a special exception for their client’s benefit.
On the other side, someone from Pitt’s teams said, “someone who her team knew well and who her team introduced to the couple”. However, Pitt has nothing to say about the statement and chooses to remain quiet at the moment.
