Patrick Mahomes’ girlfriend is often active on social media and expresses herself without holding anything back. Brittany Matthews’ latest Insta post proves that she stands for what she believes.
Matthews recently posted a screenshot of a tweet on her Insta handle and called attention to Vanessa Guillen murder case.
The post supposedly calls out the people who oppose Colin Kaepernick’s kneeling during the national anthem.
Brittany Matthews’ Insta post
Both Patrick Mahomes and his girlfriend Brittany Matthews have always been vocal about their opinions on social causes.
Matthews recently shared the screenshot of a tweet on her Instagram which further proves this.
The tweet that she posted says:
People say “kneeling is disrespectful to those serving our country.” Do you know what’s really disrespectful? Having a soldier be sexually assaulted, go missing ON BASE, emptying out her bunker-like she never existed and refusing to conduct an actual investigation.#VanessaGuillen
The tweet that she posted on her account is regarding the killing of 20-year-old soldier Vanessa Guillen. There was no proper investigation after she went missing on April 22, 2020.
Matthews’ post was not just to call attention towards the killing of Vanessa Guillen but also to support Colin Kaepernick.
The relevance of the post is related to the ongoing protests against police brutality. As George Floyd’s murder has caused protests across the United States and beyond, old photos of Nick Kaepernick resurfaced.
In 2016, NFL quarterback Colin Kaepernick had kneeled down during national anthem before an NFL game. The kneeling down was a way of silent and peaceful protest against police brutality.
As a result, people have been divided over this gesture. While there are people who support him, there are also many who say that his kneeling during the national anthem was disrespectful towards the flag.
