In Georgia, U.S. Marshalls have arrested a Georgetown University football player Dijon Williams.
According to the Washington Metropolitan Police Department, Dijon is awaiting extradition for a murder case in Washington D.C.
Nurudeen Thomas got killed on July 21, 2020. According to the Metropolitan Police, Williams got blamed for his role in the homicide of Nurudeen Thomas.
Williams was a senior and played at the Miller Grove High School in Lithonia, Georgia. On Monday, authorities took him into custody in a near Gwinnett County in Georgia.
Williams appeared in five games last year, but due to COVID-19 restrictions all fall sports have been postponed, and no team is practising now.
During the quarantine only a few Georgetown students are staying on campus, the majority of them are taking online classes from home.
After learning about the incident, Georgetown has suspended Williams from all team activities following its policy.
On Monday, the school released a statement saying: “Georgetown University became aware of charges against Dijon Williams this evening.”
“While we’re working on learning more information, we will cooperate fully with any investigation, and we stand prepared to offer resources to members of our community who may be affected by this news. At this time, there are no indications that the alleged crime took place near the University”
