China held its annual Congress of two sessions on Friday (22/05/2020). It will be the biggest little gathering of the year in China.

The United States and China are at the forefront of the race to find a vaccine. Many U.S. companies have already started with Phase 3 of their human clinical trials. However, it looks like China may outrun America in the race for the COVID-19 vaccine.
China To Outrun America For COVID-19 Vaccine?
America has launched Operation Warp Speed to accelerate research and development of vaccines. U.S. Biotech company Novavax has started with human trials in Australia after phase 1’s success. In response, China has promised to find and deliver the first vaccine against the coronavirus.
In total, five vaccines developed by Chinese companies tested on humans, the most in any country. Beijing has mobilized its health authorities, drug regulators and research institutes to work around the clock with local companies.
This puts China on the front foot in the race for the vaccine. Beijing based company Sinovac Biotech Ltd has started began with stage 2 testing of the vaccine.
On a late-night Friday show, The Lancet showed that an experimental vaccine from China’s CanSino Biologics Inc. was safe and generated an immune response.
China is facing stiff competition across the globe with the likes of the U.S. and the U.K. working round the clock. But the Asian technology hub is also not letting anyone stand in their way as they find a vaccine.
