While sharing soulful grief to George Floyd’s death, Demi Lovato promised to bring change by using her white privilege. She supports the ongoing Black Lives Matter movement in the country. As she posted on social media calling for the arrest of four police officers involved in the killing. Also, courageous her white fans and followers to speak up for the black community.
Demi Lovato Supporting Black Community On Social Media
Demi wrote, ” For all of my black friends, family, co-workers, fans, followers, and any other black person reading this…I Love You. And I’m heartbroken it has come to this.” She explained further in the post about the cruelty of a race. “For many years, white people consciously and unconsciously stole from your culture while doing nothing to protect you. You have given so much, and yet here we are.”
Examples of being killed for Black people jogging, wearing a hoodie, or eating an ice-cream even sleeping Demi noted that. She also said that white people don’t have to worry about these things or treated in the same way for these simple things. She continued, ” I hate my white privilege. It feels gross. Like having blood money or something. But I will use it to change things in whatever way I can.”
She also added she might not understand what they experience, but she stands up alongside his fans against cruelty. “I don’t know if it is okay to say I am sorry because it’s not enough. But I am. This is not fair. And I pledge to fight with you”. She also calls out to white peoples joining the protest. “Please fight this good fight. Until we ALL do our part, our people f*cked this up. This is not on the black community to fix.”
Lovato Protesting Against The Injustice
Demi also called for the police cops to involve killing to face the consequences. She wrote, “If you are mentally unstable enough that you judge someone for their skin colour…you do not deserve to be a cop. So, please turn in your badge and gun.” Also, she encouraged the attorney of Breonna Taylor to demand justice for her.
