Denver Broncos Might Cut 10 Players Off Before Training Camp: Denver Broncos, the NFL team is led by John Elway the General Manager who also makes the top tier decisions. The former football player is one of the best football players in history.
However, due to recent reports, we got to know that there might be a cut-off of ten players before the season starts. Without further ado, let us get into the details of this cut.
10 Cuts For Denver
Amid the Coronavirus Pandemic, the NFLPA has decided to take up social distancing and put forward eighty players instead of ninety.
On Tuesday, the NFLPA Leaders informed the Broncos via a call that they expect eighty players at the start of the camp. However, this means that there are 10 cuts on the way for the Denver Broncos.
The authorities said to free up space either by Tuesday when the veterans report for Coronavirus testing or August 16, the day before full-pad practices begin.
If the team waits till 16th August, this would mean that they are splitting the ninety players into two groups, but these cannot facilitate at the same time. Considering there will be two groups, we assume that the first will consist of rookies, first-year players, veterans rehabilitating injuries and some quarterbacks.
Whereas the other group would have some veterans and other quarterbacks. John Elway and head coach Vic Fangio are yet to decide the teams. We assume that they’d do it latest by Monday morning.
However, it makes sense to do the roster cuts Tuesday because splitting up a team in two groups would seem unwieldy.
What Happens Next?
Sources found an NFL memo stating:
- All the four of Broncos’ preseason games that were going to be telecast on channel 20 have been officially cancelled.
- There will be a limit of 14 padded practices, starting August 17. The first padded practice can be only 90 minutes in length. Each subsequent practice can add 15 minutes until it reaches the 2 hours 30 minutes maximum in fifth padded practice.
Considering coach Vic Fangio’s conducted training camp last year, the Broncos players can expect 2 and a half hour practices for 10 padded practices.
These unique break periods were negotiated after the surge of COVID in the USA. As of now, the authorities are keeping It low-key and putting social distancing and safety at utmost priority.
