Donald Trump never fails to surprise even his party members. Former Deputy Campaign Manager of Trump, Rick Gates has written a book Wicked Game: An Insiderβs Story on how Trump Won, Mueller Failed, and America Lost that discusses the behind-the-scenes of the 2016 election. He revealed that Trump was very much interested in having Ivanka as his vice president. During an internal meeting, he said:
βI think it should be Ivanka. What about Ivanka as my VP?β

Republicans Did Not Laugh At The Idea Of Donald Trump Wanting To Have Ivanka Trump As The Vice President
As soon as Trump proposed the idea of Ivanka as his VP, his party mates did not laugh or deny the statement. It was because they knew that Trump would not like it, and it would work against them. Rick revealed that they decided not to laugh at Trumpβs idea as they knew Trump well enough not to make that kind of mistake. He said:
βAll heads turned toward her, and she just looked surprised. We all knew Trump well enough to keep our mouths shut and not laugh.β
Ivanka Trump Was Put In The List Of Potential VPs For Donald Trump
Donald Trump was very much serious about having Ivanka onboard as his VP. It led to the Republicans putting her in the list of potential VPs for the internal polls. Ivanka was not expected to get many votes in the survey. Surprisingly enough, she got more votes than expected and made the matter more serious. Rick writes in his book:
βShe didnβt poll tremendously high, but higher than we expected, and that only added to the seriousness of her consideration.β

Ivanka Trump Pulled Out Of Becoming Vice President
Just when Republicans thought Ivanka might end up as the Vice President candidate, she decided to not go for it. She went to her father to clarify that she is not the right candidate and pulled out of vice-presidential candidacy.
