Duke Energy Postpones Recreation Flow: The Duke Recreation Flow is near Yadkin River in North Carolina. It flows around 215 miles and rises in the northwestern portion of the state near the Blue Ridge Parkway’s Thunder Hill Overlook.
North Carolinians aka the people of North Carolina enjoy boating, tubing, swimming, fishing, camping, hiking and relaxing on and around the Yadkin River.
The Yadkin River, its tributaries and lakes provide multiple opportunities for recreation throughout the river basin. Duke Energy has invested in the project.

Yadkin River: Duke Energy Project
Duke Energy is an American electric power holding company based in the United States of America. Duke Energy Corporation’s headquarters in Charlotte, North Carolina.
James Buchanan Duke and Benjamin Newton Duke have founded the company in the year 1904. The company owns 50,200 megawatts of base-load and peak generation in the US which distributes to its 7.2 million customers.
The DERS ( Duke Energy Renewable Services ) specialises in the ownership, development and operation of various generation facilities across the United States of America.
Yadkin- Pee Dee Hydro Project
Pee Dee is a river between North Carolina and South Carolina. It is also called the Great Pee Dee River. It also originates in the Appalachian Mountains of North Carolina. Its upper course is known as the Yadkin River.
Duke Energy also owns and operates the Yadkin- Pee Dee river project. The project consists of the Tillery Development and the Blewett Falls Development. They have licenced capacities of 84 and 24.6 megawatts (MW).
The project includes continuous minimum flow releases and improvements in the quality of water released from both hydroelectric stations to support and enhance aquatic habitats.
Another factor is to improve to all of the existing public excess areas on both lake Tillery and Blewett Falls lake as well as installation of three new recreation-related facilities.
Lastly, to hold seasonal scheduled flow releases from the Tillery plant to support recreation use.
Hydro Project Is Postponed
Recently, there was heavy rainfall in the Yadkin River basin. It prompted Duke Energy to postpone the scheduled recreation of May 30th. The new release date is on 27th June 2020.
