“The ISU is shocked by the news of Ekaterina’s passing. She was a talented pair skater and figure skating community will miss her. We offer our deepest sympathies to her family, friends and teammates and mourn this tragic loss.”
The Broken Pair
Katia began skating at the age of four. Soon, she got paired with Australian skater Harley Windsor, and the two won several competitions in Australia. However, earlier this year when Ekaterina retired from skating, the pair broke but were in good terms.
When Windsor heard the news of Ekaterina’s passing, he took Instagram to give a tribute to Ekaterina. He posted a picture of them captioning:
“Words cannot describe how I feel right now I am devastated and sick to my core about the sad and, sudden passing of Katia. The amount we achieved during our partnership is something I can never forget and will always hold close to my heart. This news is something you can never prepare for. Rest In Peace Katia.”
Harley and Ekaterina represented Australia in the international competition and won the world junior title in 2017.
Born on 1st January 2000, Katia began skating at 4-years-old. Katia was a gifted as well as a talented ice skater. Even though she was born in Russia, Katia had Australian citizenship.
Unfortunately, earlier this year, Katia diagnosed with epilepsy. Perhaps, this can be the reason for her untimely death. We hope Ekaterina’s family, as well as her colleagues and friends, heal from this tragic loss. Rest in Peace Ekaterina Alexandrovskaya.
