Ellen DeGeneres has recently received a lot of flak for being double-faced. On one hand, she portrays herself as a person who oozes out kindness. On the other hand, her employees have accused her of being the opposite of what she is in front of the camera. Ellen decided to apologize through a public statement and make amends for her action. However, she also defended herself saying that many were misrepresenting her. She said, “I’m also learning that people who work with me and for me are speaking on my behalf and misrepresenting who I am and that has to stop.”

Ellen DeGeneres mentioned about her time when she was at the receiving end when she was judged and side-lined by people. She knew the pain of being ignored by others and related to her employees. Ellen said in her statement, “As someone who was judged and nearly lost everything for just being who I am, I truly understand and have deep compassion for those being looked at differently, or treated unfairly, not equal, or – worse – disregarded. To think that anyone of you felt that way is awful to me.”

Ellen DeGeneres has come a long way in her career and the huge success might have reached her head. She is glad that the issues in the workplace have come up to the surface and brought to her attention. She said, “It’s been way too long, but we’re finally having conversations about fairness and justice. We all have to be more mindful about the way our words and actions affect others, and I’m glad the issues at our show were brought to my attention.”
