ESPN Will Honor The Life And Impact Of College Basketball Great Len Bias For Continuous Four Hours!

Len Bias is a college-level basketball player. He was a student at the University of Maryland. He played for Maryland basketball team for four years. Boston Celtic picked him in 1986. It was the second pick in the 1986 NBA draft. He was named a first-team All-American for the time he played in Maryland. The world was left with a shock when he died on June 19, 1986, at the age of 22, two days after Boston Celtics selected him. The cause of his death was a cocaine overdose.


ESPN Show For Len Bias

Bias is a legend of Maryland Basketball. ESPN has decided to pay tribute to his career with Maryland. It plans to do so by dedicating 4 hours of programming displaying the career of Len. ESPN had a press release for this which read, β€œOn Tuesday, June 2, ESPN will honor the life and impact of college basketball great Len Bias. Thirty-four years ago this month, Bias was drafted second overall by the Boston Celtics in the 1986 NBA Draft. A two-time ACC Player of the Year and All-American at the University of Maryland, Bias tragically passed away two days later as a result of an overdose.”

Details Of The Show For Len Bias

The tribute will start from 7 p.m. with a special episode of SportsCenter titled SportsCenter Special: Remembering Len. The press release further said, β€œ…hosted by Rece Davis with Jay Bilas, who played against Bias during his career at Duke, and Michael Wilbon, who covered the Maryland standout while at The Washington Post. The show will take a look at his impact as a player, what he may have done as a teammate of Larry Bird, and the potential rivalry with Michael Jordan. Guests will include Brad Daugherty and Jackie MacMullan.”

The death of Len made international headlines. The people with him like his girlfriend were pressed with criminal charges. Death of Len Bias led to changes in the constitution of the US. United States House of Representatives came up with an anti-drug bill, which later became law. The law provided life imprisonment to the person who distributed drugs and the use of which led to the death of another person. The law got the nickname of Len Bias law
