Extraction: It’s always great to see people realize their true potential and contribute to the movie industry, the same can be said for Chris Evans’ stunt double, Sam Hargrave whose directorial debut “Extraction” was long-awaited. The first looks and the posters had people excited to a whole other level. A movie with our very own Thor, Chris Hemsworth, script by Joe Russo and produced by the Russo brothers, with the mind-blowing action sequences doesn’t fail to entertain.
Tyler Rake (Chris Hemsworth) is a brave black-market mercenary with nothing left to lose when his skills are brought to rescue the kidnapped son of an imprisoned international drug-lord. But in the dark underworld of weapons dealers and drug traffickers, an already deadly mission approaches the impossible, forever changing the lives of Rake and the boy.
Many people claim that the story could’ve been better, it seems a little one-dimensional, with the drug lords from India and Bangladesh, kidnappings and bloodbaths. But if you looked at the perfect shot and filmed action sequences, you observe the level of skill and expertise that went into the making of the movie.
According to +account, he thought a certain scene in Extraction was tough. He posted: “By far the most complicated action sequence I’ve ever been part of, and if it wasn’t already complex enough, our director decided to shoot it as an ‘oner’ — almost 12 minutes long and it’s about as exhausting to watch as it was to film. Strap in folks!”
One action sequence, which was 12 minutes long, was shot in one go. Imagine how hard that must be! The actors had to make each move flawlessly during the 12-minute action sequence because it was supposed to look like a perfect and clean-cut scene. That could not have been easy for any of the actors on set! Getting everything seamlessly right like that is difficult, but the actors were able to overcome the challenge.
Along with Chris Hemsworth, other talented and experienced actors worked on the film. Randeep Hooda, who has worked in Bollywood movies for quite some time now, is a very respected and sought-after performer. His work in movies like Sarabjit, Highway and Kick garnered a lot of popular support and commendation. Though Pankaj Tripathi was only in a scene or two, one cannot deny the acting capabilities of the Mirzapur fame actor. David Harbour, the beloved actor who plays the grumpy cop Jim Hopper on Stranger Things too, had a cameo in the movie.
Backstory written for Rake
The backstory written for Rake is definitely heart-breaking. It gives the movie a bit of a perspective as to what made him join a gruesome business. The fast-paced thriller movie keeps the audience on the edge of their seats the entire time.
According to Netflix numbers, Extraction was viewed by around 90 million accounts within its first month of being released. It has shattered all records. It is very stirring to see that the movie did so well. A big reason why the movie did so well is probably the fact that Chris Hemsworth is the face of the movie. His time as Thor has bolstered him as one of our favourite action movie stars.
The film is filmed mostly in India and Thailand. After Avengers: Endgame, Indian fans have not stopped gushing over the directorial and production skills of the Russo brothers. This may be another reason adding up to the film’s success.
There is great news for the fans of Extraction! The sequel is already in the works. It will be so exhilarating to see what else the filmmakers and actors have in store for us after the first movie turned out so well. It got mixed reviews from critics, but the fact that so many people watched the movie says it all. An action flick like this is surely an entertainer. The end of the movie does leave us in a blur. To this, Sam Hargrave admitted that he wanted to leave this to the imagination of the viewers, as to whatever end they might like to give to the characters. But to know for certain, I guess we’d have to wait and watch the sequel.
