Britney Spears Wants Voluntary Conservatorship

Just a few weeks ago, Britney Spears got a moral win. The court extended the role of Jodi Montgomery as her conservator till February 2021. This was after she wanted her father to stay away from her conservatorship. However, Britney has now filed an appeal in court for voluntary conservatorship. The voluntary conservatorship will allow Britney to choose a conservator as per her preference. This will give her more freedom and power in her conservatorship as it usually binds a person in every way. However, the court has not yet responded to this appeal.

Britney Spears Opposes Her Father To Be The Conservator

As per the filings made in court, Britney has asserted that she wants her father to stay away from her conservatorship. Her father was her conservator for ten years before he took a break due to health reasons. However, now Britney doesn’t want her father back as the conservator. The document says, β€œBritney is strongly opposed to her father continuing as the sole conservator of her estate. Rather, without in any way waiving her right to seek termination of this conservatorship in the future, she strongly prefers to have a qualified corporate fiduciary appointed to serve in this role.”

Britney Wants To Choose Her Conservator In An Open And Transparent Manner

Britney Spears is of the opinion that the entire process of choosing a conservator must be done with more transparency. She said, β€œBritney strongly believes it is consistent not only with her personal best interests but also with good public policy generally that the decision to appoint a new conservator of her estate to be made in as open and transparent a manner as possible.”

The conclusion of the filing said, β€œAt this point in her life when she is trying to regain some measure of personal autonomy, Britney welcomes and appreciates the informed support of her many fans.”
