Nicholas Pooran also showed some excellent form but went out earlier than expected at 33.

Watson And Du Plessis Run Over Punjab In IPL 2020

A score of 178 does not look very bad, but the Punjab bowling has been terrible in this year’s IPL. The only bowler working for the team at the moment is Mohammad Shami, and the rest are yet to deliver. The Chennai batting took advantage of this to ensure that they not only win but also crush Punjab. Without any loss of a wicket, Chennai finished the match in 17.4 overs as though it was not a score worth chasing. Their openers Du Plessis and Watson scored 87 and 83 respectively with Warner coming back to form.

We Did Small Things Right, Says Dhoni

Dhoni and his team were heavily questioned and criticized after they lost three matches in a row. However, their latest win comes as a relief and that too with a ten-wicket victory. Dhoni feels the team did small things right to deserve the success. He said:

β€œI think we did the small things right. That’s what was important to us. The kind of start we got in batting, that’s what we needed. Hopefully, we’ll be able to replicate this in the coming games.”

Watson Comes Back To Form Against Punjab In IPL 2020

Watson had a very dry spell in the IPL, and experts wanted him to be dropped. However, Dhoni backed him, and he came on top against KXIP. Dhoni said:

β€œIt’s not about being more aggressive. He was hitting it well in the nets and what you need is to do that in the middle. It was just a matter of time.”
