Rajasthan Bowlers Have No Answers For Kings XI Punjab Batting In IPL 2020

Kings XI Punjab and Rajasthan Royals played what turned out to be one of the most exciting matches of IPL 2020. Rajasthan won the toss and sent Punjab to bat first. However, it seemed like a poor choice as KL Rahul, and Mayank Aggarwal was in no mood to commit mistakes. Together the two openers made an opening partnership of 182 with Mayank hitting a century and KL Rahul scoring 69. Moreover, the fall of their wickets, in the end, did not lead to loss of momentum as Punjab ended up scoring a mammoth total of 223 in 20 overs.

Sanju Samson And Rahul Tewatia Take The Game Away From Punjab In IPL 2020

Jos Butler and Steve Smith went out to bat, but Butler came back pretty soon. Just then came Sanju Samson who is in fiery form. He and Steve Smith started hitting the bowlers in every ball and they Punjab looked helpless. Only then, Rajasthan lost Steve Smith, and hope surfaced for Punjab. Rahul Tewatia got promoted to bat, but he wasted many balls that led to a massive rise in run rate. The match seemed lost for RR when Samson got out as RR required more than 50 runs from the last three overs. Then came Cottrell to bowl and Tewatia stole the game from Punjab by hitting five sixes in the over. In the end, Rajasthan won the match by four wickets.

Steve Smith Praises Tewatia For His Stellar IPL 2020 Show

Everyone thought sending Tewatia was a disaster as he was wasting too many balls. However, his climax show brought them back, and Smith always had faith in him. He said:

β€œWhat we have seen from Tewatia in the nets is what we saw in that Cottrell over. I told someone as long as he gets one, floodgates will open. He showed heart. He told me during the timeout we still believe.”

T20 Keeps You Humble, Says, KL Rahul

It was a winning match for Punjab until the Cottrell over, and KL Rahul believes it is part of the game. He said:

β€œLook that is T20 cricket. We have seen this a lot of times. We need to keep our chin up. We did a lot of things right, but you have to give it to them. The game keeps you humble all the time.”
