Johnny Depp To Continue Shooting For Fantastic Beasts 3; Files To Delay $50M Defamation Case: Johnny Depp filed documents in a Virginia Court last week to delay the $50m defamation case against Amber Heard to resume the shooting for his much-awaited Fantastic Beasts 3.
“Plaintiff should not be permitted to delay the trial and continue causing this damage simply because there is a scheduled movie shoot conflicting with trial and for which he has made no effort to schedule around his deposition and this trial,” the Aquaman star’s lawyers wrote in opposition.
The case was filed by the actor back in March 2019. She accused him of being hostile and abusive while the actor completely denied the allegations.
Vicious War Of Words Since 2016
The Pirates of Caribbean actor has been at war with his former wife since they parted away in 2016 with Heard receiving $7 million from the divorce. In December 2018 Amber wrote an op-ed describing herself a victim of domestic abuse. The article for the Washington Post reads:
“I spoke up against sexual violence — and faced our culture’s wrath. That has to change.”
The op-ed didn’t mention Depp by his name. However, he felt that the item was pointing at him.
In March 2019 Depp sued Heard over the opinion piece saying that the reverse was true. She allegedly was the hostile person in the marriage. In 2020, phone recordings got released in which Heard admitted to ‘hitting’ Depp. The three-week trial began in July 2020.
Clash Of dates With Fantastic Beasts 3
According to reports, Depp has requested the court to delay hearing to a period between March and June of 2021. The Fantastic Beasts 3 is scheduled to be shot from January 11, 2021, to January 28 2021. The shoot days clashes with the trial dates.
According to the court papers, the shooting dates were postponed by the Warner Bros. Due to the ongoing pandemic that conflicts the trial date. The film will release on November 12, 2021. It includes Johnny Depp, Jude Law and Eddie Redmayne in the top-billed cast.
