Reese Witherspoon and Kerry Washington ringed out a few months early in the New Year. Host Jimmy Kimmel practically took viewers to Witherspoon’s lawn during the 2020 Emmy Awards on Sunday. She held a socially-distanced viewing party in support of her multiple nominated projects, including Little Fires Everywhere, Big Little Lies and The Morning Show.

Witherspoon and Washington carried New Year’s paraphernalia, including hats and 2021 frames, in addition to their beautiful dresses.
“Because we’re ready for this year to be over,” Reese explained to Jimmy.”
When Jimmy asked if they had the power to declare the end of the year, Reese responded:
“Of course. We’re Emmy nominated television producers.”
Witherspoon, Washington and the rest of the guests started counting down to the new year, prompting Kimmel’s protests that it’s not even midnight.
The stars than did the usual New Year’s countdown, but due to COVID-19 they did not kiss.

When Jimmy said, “I wish I could kiss you guys too,” Kerry gave him a pass.
“No, we don’t want that. Thank you,” she quipped.
