Korean Remake of ‘Money Heist’ To Be Produced By Netflix.
Money Heist is one of the most famous shows on Netflix, period. The Show attracted 65 million views in the first four weeks of its most recent season. In Fact, it is more than breakout docuseries Tiger King. Moreover, it is rated at 8.4 on IMDb and 93% on Rotten Tomatoes.
The Next Seasons
In addition to this, Show has more to look forward to. The show will conclude its fifth and final season in 2021. Created & produced by Álex Pina, the Spanish series follows two carefully prepared heists led by “the Professor” (Álvaro Morte). One is on the Royal Mint of Spain, and the other on the Bank of Spain.
On Tuesday, Netflix announced that it has greenlit a 12-episode first season of an all-new Korean version of Money Heist (La casa de Papel). It is expected to go into production sometime next year.
Money Heist Korean Adaptation
Featuring Korean Areas, the adaptation will be directed by K-drama veteran Kim Hong-sun (The Guest, Voice, and Black) and written by Ryu Yong-Jae. They are known for Netflix’s Original My Holo Love and tvN’s hit thriller series Psychopath Diary. Afterward, production will be a collaboration between Korean companies BH Entertainment and Contents Zium.
Statement By The Creator
Moreover, Pina had the following to say in a statement:
“Korean creators have been developing their own language and audiovisual culture for years. They have managed, like our series, to go beyond cultural borders and become a point of reference for thousands of viewers around the world, especially among young people.”
Finally, he added, “That is why I find it fascinating that the world of La casa de Papel is so attractive to Korean creators as to do an adaptation. The fact that the action is set on the Korean Peninsula also seems to me to be a milestone. For which I am really delighted about.”
Meanwhile, the Korean remake title, as well as the cast and release date, will be announced at a later date.
