OnePlus typically announces a couple of smartphones every year. But in 2019, it announced two versions of the first smartphone – the OnePlus 7 and OnePlus 7 Pro. It also announced another two variants of the “T” version in the OnePlus 7T and OnePlus 7T Pro.
In 2020, it seems like OnePlus is expecting to announce the OnePlus 8 and OnePlus 8 Pro. On the other hand, rumours are spreading that it immediately announces OnePlus 8 Lite too.
OnePlus gave confirmation that the 8 series will be launching on 14 April. The launching event will be online. There will also be a live stream so that everyone can follow the action from home. It will be hosting at 11 am EST.
The OnePlus 7T series starts at £549 and the Pro model starting at £699. We can expect the One Plus 8 series to stay around the same price. Furthermore, it may have a slight increase. It looks like OnePlus will be offering a more affordable model this time.
The OnePlus 7T has a waterdrop notch at the top of its display. The 7T Pro has a pop-up front camera. This camera allows the display without any interruption. On the contrary renders of the OnePlus 8 series suggest that it will have a punch-hole design for its next releases.
We expect the alert slider to remain the same. We can also expect a premium build quality. Renders suggest that both models will have a vertical camera housing design in the centre of the back.
A leaked spec breakdown suggests that One Plus 8 will have an alloy frame with glass back. It will be using Gorilla Glass 6 for the front. Interestingly, OnePlus 8 will have an IP53 rating. It will have an IP68 rating.
Thus it’ll be a lot more waterproof than the previous devices. Nevertheless, everyone believes that OnePlus is going to take a proper step for waterproofing.
A range of colours is being leaked. These colours include a green option and something like Glow. It looks like it got its inspiration by the setting sun. Moving through yellow to purple may end up looking like a bruise. However, most people may probably buy the black model.
