Mark Cuban Is Viral After A Controversial ‘National Anthem Police’ Tweet!: On Sunday, Dallas Mavericks owner, Mark Cuban posted a controversial, and harsh message addressing to the National Anthem Police.
Cuban doubled down on his defence of NBA athletes protesting police brutality by taking a knee during the national anthem in tweets featuring anti-racist gestures.
Let us dive into the details of this controversy.
No Kneel Policy
Recently, a local radio host, namely Mark Davis, claimed that he’d stop watching the Mavericks if a person kneels during the National Anthem. He said:
“I am so ready to be in on this year’s Mavericks home stretch. So much promise, so much personality; but, the minute one player kneels during the anthem I am out.”
To this, Cuban did not hesitate to write a simple ‘Bye.’ Later, he posted a long message on Twitter, addressing Mark Davis’ tweet and the ongoing police brutality. He said:
“The National Anthem Police in this country are out of control. If you want to complain, complain to your boss and ask why they don’t play the National Anthem every day before you start work.”
However, it’s unclear if the NBA players will kneel for the National Anthem during their games at Orlando, but, it won’t come off as a surprise if they do.
Previously, Mark Cuban told the ESPN that he’d support the Mavericks in whatever form of protests they are willing to do. He’d even kneel with them if it’s necessary.
After Cuban’s outburst regarding the ‘National Anthem Kneel,’ several people came in support of Cuban, but there were people who stirred up the controversy and regarded Cuban as an ‘anti-national.’
The kneeling trend came in 2017 after Colin Kaepernick kneeled during National Anthem right before his game, giving a strong message about police brutality and racism in America.
The Political Speaker
Cuban is no stranger for wading into political matters over divisive subjects. He has often stirred up controversies regarding President Trump’s behaviour towards the country.
In a recent spat with Senator Ted Cruz, regarding the Nationality issues, Cuban said:
“I can say, Black Lives Matter. Moreover, I can say there is systematic racism. I can say there is a pandemic that you’ve done little to end and I care about this country first and last.”
