Microsoft Edge: Microsoft in an announcement on Monday unveiled the new features of chromium-based browser Microsoft Edge and Microsoft Teams. It also announced that on April 21st, “Office 365 will become Microsoft 365″.
Microsoft 365 builds on the foundation of Office infusing new artificial intelligence (AI), rich content and templates, and cloud-powered experiences to enhance personalization in writing, presenting, designing and managing your finances.
These experiences will reach over 38 million Office 365 subscribers over the next few months.
Coming back to the new features of Edge, below are the features introduced by Microsoft yesterday which might sound ordinary or simple but will greatly affect the way of your working.
1. Collection- Control Multiple Web Pages In One Click
The collection is somewhat like the Bookmark feature. What differentiates it from bookmark is that in Collection along with saving a web page for future use, you can now organize the list of websites and export it into various files. Also, you don’t have to open a new page or application. The feature will open a pane on the right side of the screen.
How to use it? Click on the Collections button and a pane on the right of your browser opens, drag and drop webpages, text, or images into a group
Collections will be made available in Mobiles late this spring.
2. Vertical Tabs – Research Work Made Easier
If you have a job where you research online then you would often come across a situation with dozens of tabs open at any given time. The most excruciating thing is that you can’t even see the full title of the tab bcoz of the space available.
To tackle this problem, Microsoft announced vertical tabs, a feature that helps you easily find and manage many open tabs at once. Microsoft Edge is the only browser that gives you this feature of managing multiple tabs on the side with a single click.
Vertical tabs are expected in the Insider channels in the next few months.
3. Smart Copy-How Did I Live Without This Before?
Sometimes you see a picture with a subtle description below it. But when you copy the image, you only get the picture and not the text below it. So you, then, copy the text and paste it in the document. But another problem arises. You now have to align it with respect to the picture.
Smart copy makes it easier to select, copy and paste the exact content you want from the web and preserve the rich web format. it will retain the formatting, including any images or links.
The smart copy is expected in the Insider channels next month.
4. Immersive Reader- Bring Out The Reader In You
Immersive Reader, built into Microsoft Edge is a blessing for the bibliophile. It makes reading on the web more comfortable and personalized.
You can now change the font size of the text, change the background colour of the web(page theme). If you like audiobooks more than handbooks, then this feature also allows to let the article read aloud for you.
Immersive Reader is available now with more features like line focus coming soon.
5. Tracking Prevention- Choose What You See And What You Don’t
Are you are among those who are annoyed by the personalized ads which pop up while you are surfing? Microsoft presents to you the tracking prevention feature in Microsoft Edge, designed to protect you from being tracked by websites that you aren’t accessing directly, giving you more control over what you see and what you don’t.
