NFL: Mike Ditka Holds A Stance Against Kneeling!: Over the last few years, there have been several social changes all across the USA. However, the most famous, or let’s say the controversial social change was when Colin Kaepernick, the football quarterback, decided to kneel during the National Anthem.
It happened due to the racial injustice against the black community for over 100 years. However, former NFL player Mike Ditka disagrees. Recently, Ditka showed strong resentment towards the ‘kneeling system.’
Nevertheless, let us get into the details of this matter.
Four years back, when Kaepernick kneeled during the Anthem, his reasons were thrown into a river, and what came off was his disrespect to the American flag and the military, which honestly, wasn’t a feasible correlation. The message Kaepernick gave was that even though he’s black, he is an American and nothing, or no one can tell them anything else.
So, Ditka recently told the TMZ that he holds a stance towards the ones that kneel during the Anthem. He said:
“If you can’t respect our National Anthem, get the hell out of the country. That’s the way I feel. Of course, I’m old fashioned, so I’m only going to say what I feel. You don’t protest against the flag, and you don’t protest against this country who’s given you opportunities to make a living playing a sport that you never thought would happen. So, I don’t want to hear all the crap.”
Although, this comment from the former Chicago Bears coach shouldn’t come off as a surprise, as he previously made several puzzling remarks over the years. Moreover, in October 2017, Ditka told Jim Gary on Westwood One’s pregame show that:
“There has been no oppression since the last 100 years.”
He said this after Gary asked him about his views over some players protesting against social injustice. Ditka’s blatant disregard to the ongoing protests and fights over America shows that there people who don’t care about anyone’s lives other than theirs.
The Message Is Misunderstood
As disappointing as it sounds, several people in America are still ignorant about the push for a social change. It undermines several lives that are endangered due to the sheer racism some people inculcate.
Moreover, it underlines the social transformation plague in society that keeps minorities, especially the black community, in the vicious cycle of oppression and mistreatment.
Now, with the social injustice movements rising in every state, it will indeed be difficult for Ditka to be vocal about his racist views. What do you think of Ditka’s views on kneeling? Let us know in the comment section below.
