Polestar 2 Starts At $59,000 In The U.S.

Polestar 1 hybrid coupe launched last year, which we have driven and loved. The company gives an announcement regarding the price for its first fully electric vehicle, the Polestar 2 sedan.

However, the two arrives in the U.S. this year. On the contrary, the customers will have to shell out $59,900 for the electric four-door to start.

Additional Options

The valuable option for the Polestar 2 is the $5,000 Performance Pack. It adds Ohlins dampers, Brembo brakes, and trim-specific 20-inch alloys. The Performance Pack drops the overall ride height by 0.2 inches, i.e. 5.9 inches to 5.7 inches.

Colours And Other Options

If you wish for 20-inch wheels without the Performance Pack, then it is $1,200. On the contrary, if you choose Nappa leather over the standard “Wave Tech” seating, it costs another $4,000. Buyers also have an option to select from six metallic paint colours, at $1,200 each. The colours include Snow, Magnesium, Thunder, Moon, Midnight, and Void.

Price Of A Fully Loaded Polestar

Estimating you select every one of those options listed. This could lead to a price tag of nearly $70,000 for a fully loaded Polestar 2. However, the good news is, with current tax incentives and some states are offering rebates as costly as $2,000.

States like New York and California select customers and provide discounts of up to $9,500 toward the purchase of a Polestar 2.

Is It Worth The Price?

However, Polestar 2 is still a little pricier than some of its more-mainstream competitors. For example, Tesla Model 3 starts at $39,900. Even the upcoming Ford Mustang Mach-EΒ costs $44,995.

But the sedan undercuts some pricier electric crossovers, like the Audi E-Tron,Β Jaguar I-Pace, andΒ Mercedes-Benz EQC. Buyers will have to decide further if this premium electric sedan is worth the cost.

The Polestar 2 has a fantastic start line, and its 78-kilowatt-hour battery pack produces 408 horsepower and 487 pound-feet of torque. This gives the ability to propel the sedan to 60 miles per hour in 4.7 seconds.

The EPA-estimated range of Polestar 2 is about 275 miles. The sedan even lauds a best-in-class towing figure of 3,300 pounds.

In the cabin, the Polestar 2 gets an industry-first Android infotainment system along with an 11.0-inch touchscreen. The setup includes features like Google Assistant, Google Maps with E.V. charging support. It also has access to the Google Play Store, with the ability to download a few specific apps.

The Polestar 2 started off production in March. However, the first U.S. buyers will get their hands on the sedan beginning this summer. The company also promises the opening of a few Polestar Places on the West Coast and in New York later in the year.
