Senator Steven Bradford on implementation of AB-3121 bill
The incident of Jacob Blake has reached around the world. As a result, it is helping in the awakening of people—the decision of reparations to all African-Americans. Specifically, the descendants of slaves are yet to confirm. However, the senator Steven Bradford has made up his mind to do the same.
Along with Steven Bradford, many other senates have come in support for the same. He says, “If the 40 acres and a mule that was promised to free slaves were delivered to the descendants of those slaves today. We would all be billionaires”.
Besides, he also mentioned, “I hear far too many people say, ‘Well, I didn’t own slaves, that was so long ago,” he said. “Well, you inherit wealth — you can inherit the debt that you owe to African-Americans.” The statement is made in support of the AB-3121 bill.
AB-3121 bill and its implementation
The bill states ‘Task Force to Study and Develop Reparation Proposals for African Americans’. The implementation of the bill requires proper study and survey, or else the bill won’t be taken into consideration. Hence Research and finding will be done for the topic mentioned above.
The law requires a nine-member commission who will further conduct a study regarding the impact of slavery in California. Therefore all the decisions made will be based on the topic. And the commission has to come up with various aspects and identify the criteria.
It is a commission that is also responsible for acknowledging facts of how fits in the requirements before the implementation of the law. The benefit is applicable are in the form of cash, housing assistance, lower tuition, forgiving student loans, job training, or community investments.
