When Resident Evil 7: Biohazard released in 2017, everyone can admit that they were terrified beyond measure. The game had every aspect of a horror that sent chills down our spine. After 2017, Capcom went on to reboot Resident Evil 2 and 3 and has been successful so far. And it looks Capcom is back for more.
Capcom has officially confirmed that Resident Evil 8 is on the way. Though the franchise has been on a remake spree, Resident Evil 8 will be fresh out of the oven.
So let’s dive into details such as the release date, characters, plot, trailer, and every other update there is to know.
According to rumours floating around the internet, the game is scheduled to release mid-2021. If these rumours are indeed true, we can see a reveal very shortly. Resident Evil 8 could be one of the marquee games that debut at Sony’s June 11 PlayStation 5 event.

Ethan Winters, who was the hero of Resident 7, is going to be a part of the project. The game is rumoured to be titled as Resident Evil: Village. This states that the game can take place in a small, secluded European village, just like Resident Evil 4. However, the ambassador leaks about Ethan and Werewolves in a snowy village are entirely true.
Along with the village, Resident evil is set to explore other locations such as castles, caves, and forests. It will have more focus on outdoor locations, unlike its predecessor.
Occultism is likely to play a very important role in the upcoming game, but there is no magic. There is a cult that worships the abomination created from the new virus. At first, there are hints at something supernatural. However, it is later revealed that the virus is in the air and causing hallucinations from time to time. Occultism, insanity, and hallucinations are the major attractions of the game.
Before going ahead, we would like to say that all the information right here is gathered from a number of leaks and rumors. Nothing has been made official yet. Resident Evil 7 took a big deviation from the original storyline in terms of plot and gameplay. Until the very end, there weren’t any heroes or villains throughout the game.
Mia and Ethan have a child, and it is deformed because of their infections in Resident Evil 7. They live a pretty lonely life in a remote place and try to hide their child. However, Chris Redfield breaks into Ethan’s house and executes Ethan’s mutant child, followed by shooting Mia. Apparently, he is operating on his own, and his actions are not a part of any official operation. When Ethan wakes up, Chris is gone. However, before leaving, he has bandaged Mia and saved her from bleeding out.
Ethan is abducted from his house and later wakes up in a village. As pre fresh leaks, Chris Redfield will play an integral character of Resident Evil 8. He will appear in flashbacks throughout the game.
The main villain of the game is a guy called Alan living in a castle. He is either a leader or a high ranking member of the connections. If you’d recall Resident Evil 7, you know that Lucas was, in fact, working for Alan.
The secondary villain is Natalia (Alex Wesker). There are hints that the Blue Umbrella might not be as clean as they portray it to be.
The major of these leaks is the word of a new playable character, Emily, who sounds like she will be the protagonist of the game or at least a secondary protagonist. Parts of the game are played as a mountain resident Emily, a woman in her late 20s. She aids Ethan and is looking for her father. Emily grew up in a village and will work with Ethan to find her father and escape.
