The buzz around Riot’s new shooter game had been making the rounds for months. However, on June 2, Riot Games has finally launched Valorant across Europe, Asia, and America. On May 21, Riot announced that “Valorant” is going live worldwide on June 2, 2020. Along with the buzz, the game was poised as a Counter-Strike: Global Offensive and Overwatch hybrid. Fans are saying that Valorant is likely to take over the FPS genre as the next big thing.
What Is Valorant?
Valorant is free to play, tactical, class-based first-person shooter (FPS). Much like how Overwatch has a pool of heroes, Valorant has agents. The primary game mode in Valorant is similar to the game type in CS GO, or Search and Destroy, or Call Of Duty. Just like the mentioned games, in Valorant, attackers work together to plant a bomb called Spike and protect it from until it explodes. What To Expect From Valorant?
Each match is divided into two phases, i.e offense and defense. If it does, the attackers win the round. The game is fast-paced, intense, and hyper-competitive. The defenders work together to either kill the entire attacking team or defuse the bomb before it explodes. Likewise, the attackers can kill the entire defending team to win the round. A normal game in Valorant is played throughout 25 rounds, and the first team to win 13 rounds is victorious. Once you select your agent at the start of the game, you CANNOT switch during rounds. The agents themselves have some very important distinctions and has four abilities. One signature ability is granted free every round, 1 ultimate ability charged up by getting kills, and 2 abilities that must be purchased before the round begins.
In Valorant, you have to purchase your loadout through a round by round economy. You will be able to purchase the guns at the start of each round during the preparation. Each gun has its stat line and pattern making it easier for you to choose your designated weapon. However, in Valorant, you can also purchase things for your teammates in case they are a bit behind.
The game places a heavy emphasis on its deep gunplay, which demands precision, skill, and awareness from the player.
