The Wizards of Waverley Place, the star had always wanted to focus on remaining a kind person, someone who can provide comfort and positivity in times of strife. Perhaps the person up and downs of the singer has to lead her to become kinder.
In an interview with Rolling Stone India, Selena stated that “My ultimate dream is that I am able to save people’s lives through something, Whether it’s a song, music, or if it’s me just speaking about the troubles and the trials and tribulations that I had gone through.”

In 2015, she was diagnosed with autoimmune disease lupus, while working on her second solo album, Revival. As a result, the singer had to cut short her 2016 tour and remained mostly out of the public eye for a few years. In addition, in 2017 she went through a kidney transplant.

I’m very aware some of my fans had noticed I was laying low for part of the summer and questioning why I wasn’t promoting my new music, which I was extremely proud of. So I found out I needed to get a kidney transplant due to my Lupus and was recovering. It was what I needed to do for my overall health. I honestly look forward to sharing with you, soon my journey through these past several months as I have always wanted to do with you. Until then I want to publicly thank my family and incredible team of doctors for everything they have done for me prior to and post-surgery. And finally, there aren’t words to describe how I can possibly thank my beautiful friend Francia Raisa. She gave me the ultimate gift and sacrifice by donating her kidney to me. This lead to the singer, falling into anxiety, depression and panic attack. As a result, it made it later tricky for her to go back on tour and work on new music.
Although, the singer collaborated with many stars over the years, like Kygo, Charlie Puth, and DJ Snake(“Taki Taki,” alongside Ozuna and Cardi B). She even released her single “Bad Liar” (2017) and more.
But it was only in 2020, that Gomez was back in her full form. In January 2020, Selena’s released her third studio album ‘Rare‘ which was powerful, optimistic. This marked the start of an era that gave her the chance to define herself as an artist and build the identity she always wanted.
She also dove into new and exciting projects like working with South Korean pop group BLACKPINK on their flirty new song “Ice-Cream”. The planning and executing of the video were done over Zoom calls, even the release with her collaborators.
It’s been a rewarding and uplifting 2020 so far, for Selena Gomez. We hope that there’s lots more to come for her, after all her struggle.

Selena also spoke to Bollywood Hungama, revealing her experience working with the K-Pop South Korean girl group.
She said, “With how talented the group of BLACKPINK is, it’s been amazing to work with them,”
Further adding she said, “Being a part of the Korean music industry has been a pleasure, especially as to how warm and welcoming the audience has been. It’s also been a learning process because the language was new but somehow our distinct styles just fit together perfectly. The video was shot virtually which made this a very fun project.”
Selena admitted to hearing the song a lot. In addition, she revealed she was grateful for the experience from the song and the amazing journey. Guess, collaboration becomes a good experience for the singer.
Guess, the singer made an instant connection with the BlackPink group. The 28-years-old singer was all praises for the group from their crisp choreographies. She believed that working with them gave her a wonderful experience and she even got to learn a few moves too.
