Selena Gomez’s New Song- Boyfriend
Tranter co-wrote the song with Gomez, Michaels, and Jon Wiener. Sam Homaee says the chorus comes super quick. He also says that they have to massage the verses a lot more times.
Sam also says maybe the choir is his favourite chorus that he’s ever been a part of the song. Michaels adds that all this came into picture literally from a text message.
Gomez then elaborates on the refreshing moment. She says that she was casually talking to Sam the other day. Then there arose a topic about the album in which she exclaims that she needs a boyfriend.
Sam then expresses her idea of presenting the title of this song as “Boyfriend.” Gomez then went to the studio, and that took the place of the title of the song.
Tranter then emphasizes the use of the word want versus the use of the word need.
He says that those are two very different and also significant words. So, they made sure to make that very clear. Because no one needs a boyfriend, you can want one, but no one needs a boyfriend.
She says that it’s a lighthearted song. The song mainly concentrates on falling and getting back up time and time again in love. Not only this but also know that you don’t need anyone other than yourself to be happy in life.
She then notes that she wrote the song long before our current crisis. According to her Instagram mention, the song was finished earlier in November.
Gomez concludes that in today’s context, she wants to be clear that a boyfriend is nowhere near the top of her list of priorities. Because of that, she’s personally donating to the PLUS1 COVID-19 Relief Fund. She is donating $1 of every order in her official store to the fund as well.
