She narrated about a personal experience from the set of Mission Impossible 2 where Tom got frustrated with Thandie’s acting in one of the scenes. According to Thandie, Tom came up with a stupid idea where he asked Thandie to swap the roles while rehearsing. She said, “So we filmed the entire scene with me being him — because, believe me, I knew the lines by then — and him playing me,” she said. “And it was the most unhelpful . . . I can’t think of anything less revealing. It just pushed me further into a place of terror and insecurity.”

Talking about the same, Thandie said, “I’ve never actually outright asked her, but when your husband is like, ‘Who would you mind me pretending to shag for the next six months?’ Do you know what I mean? She said that she had a conversation with the director in front of Matt, where he tells her that he wants the scene to be very realistic. However, what shocked everyone was that Thandie cries after this conversation because she thought the scene that showed sexual abuse and racism was far from reality. However, she later realized that many black women are raped by police officers, and it had become a phenomenon.
