The July 4th weekend in New York City turned out to be a violent and dark one.
About 30 people were shot over the night and 14 of them were from northern Manhattan.
The New York Police Department confirmed that over the span of the night, at least ten people have been shot with two confirmed deaths.
The cops said that a man of 20 was shot in the chest at 12:43 a.m. and rushed to the Brookdale Hospital Medical Center but could not be saved. This shooting took place in East New York, Brooklyn.
After this, a 23-year-old man was shot in Harlem on 116th street at 2:40 a.m. The man was admitted to the St. Luke’s Roosevelt Hospital where he breathed his last.
As per an NYPD spokesman, this man was uncooperative during the interview.
Other details about the shootings are yet to be released.
These shootings have made the July 4th weekend a bloody one but come nowhere near June shootings. The month of June recorded 205 shootings, one of the bloodiest of June in history.
