Windows Subsystem for Linux 2 (WSL 2)
Microsoft first announced the Windows Subsystem for Linux 2 in Microsoft’s BUILD 2019. But now it is being rolled out for all the users for Windows 10 branch. This Windows Subsystem update brings the full Linux Kernel under a stable branch. The WSL 2 is also updateable through Windows update. So, no users need to rely on the command line to update the Kernel.
In Microsoft BUILD 2020, it announced GPU acceleration and Linux GUI app support for the Windows Subsystem for Linux 2. But for now, these features are not available for Windows, so users have to wait for long before the availability.
Window WSL 2 And ARM Update: Chat-Based Cortana
One of the highlights for this update is the new Cortana experience, which is in the form of a chat with digital assistances. One can now interact with Cortana in a chat-based user interface by text or voice commands. It will help us to connect with people faster, get any information faster, and also helps to track schedule.
Windows 10 ARM Feature
The update also brings the Your Phone app’s calling feature to ARM supported PC’s. The Your Phone app helps to place or receive a call or a text from PC. In the previous update, the app supported only an x86/x86-64 Windows Pc with an Android device. But in this 2020 update, this app will be functional on ARM devices for Windows 10. This is updated in the devices like Microsoft Surface Pro X and Samsung Galaxy Book S.
The Other Features Of The Update
- Bluetooth Pairing – No longer, we have to open the settings menu to activate Bluetooth for pairing. Devices can pair with other devices straight from the quick setting from the notification.
- The virtual desktops can be renamed while more Kaomoji is available in the Windows emoji board. And etc.
